Went looking for a new bourbon to try and ended up with a private tasting of scotches in the back room. My new favorite place in the world. Tasting notes: The Dalmore paled in comparison to the others (but not literally), being heavy and overly sweet. The palest was the Ancnoc 16 yr. which was heavenly. A complicated nose and palate. Aged in bourbon casks. The Ancnoc 12 was aged in sherry casks and was a little sweeter - preferred the crisper taste of the 16. The Yamazaki 12 was very nice - a Japanese Single Malt Scotch. Finally, the Springbank 15. Notes of peat of course, but also salt (from the sea air near Campbeltown). Crisp and clean tasting. Really loved this one. It’s a keeper (although I bought a bourbon, still having the Old Pulteney 17 in the house. (Taken with Instagram at Town Wine & Spirits)
